Small Cal Amunition Experience

Arrow Tech has worked on ammunition in virtually every caliber between 0.17 caliber (both air gun pellets & centerfire rifle) up to 8 inch howitzer, bullets, propellants, ignition systems, cartridge cases (& the interactions with the chamber), fuzes, armor penetration, trajectory matches, radar data reduction, bullet-barrel interactions (including in-bore balloting and body engraving) and rifling design.  Below is an incomplete list of the small caliber ammunition projects Arrow Tech has  worked over the years: 

  • 0.177 & 0.22 cal: Airgun Pellet
  • .17 cal: long range projectile design
  • .22 cal: green rimfire projectile design 
  • 5.56x45mm: brass & plastic cartridge case – chamber interaction studies
  • 5.56x45mm: aluminum cartridge case – chamber interaction studies
  • 5.56mm: engraving force measurements
  • 5.56x45mm: dispersion reduction (M855, M855A1 & M856A1)
  • .25 cal “bio bullet”: stability and dispersion 
  • 7.62mm: engraving force measurements (M80, commercial hunting bullets)
  • 7.62x51mm: rifling geometry & Barrel Twist study (M80, Mk316)
  • 7.62x51mm: projectile construction / dispersion interaction study (M80, M118 & Barnes Triple Shock)
  • 7.62mm staged high velocity launcher
  • 8.5mm projectile design trade study (development)
  • 9mm training projectile dispersion study 
  • 9mm marker projectile flight dynamics
  • 12.7x99mm: M962 SLAP-T Structural Investigation
  • 12.7x99mm: .50 cal cartridge case – chamber interaction studies for XM806 gun
  • 12 Gauge sabot slug aerodynamic & dispersion analysis
  • 12 Gauge Statically Stable Cargo projectile
